I EWCIP Workshop invites researchers and practitioners to submit contributions describing relevant advances or experiences in the study and analysis of computing and ICT profession.
Workshop overview This workshop is aimed at addressing the different aspects of computing and ICT professionalism. With the support of CEPIS (http://www.cepis.org) and ATI (http://www.ati.es), the workshop wants to act as meeting point for research and practitioners communities in Spain and Portugal with experts of European countries where ICT professionalism initiatives are also a hot topic . Working language will be mainly English although contributions in Spanish are also welcome.
Suggested topics for contributions (mainly supported with empirical data and facts) although not limited to them, are the following ones: – professional profiles – role of certifications – adaptation of different levels of education – analysis of labour market – social image of profession – non technical skills – women in ICT profession – skills shortage – new trends in ICT profession – influence of globalization – role of educators, public administration and professional bodies within the ICT profession – ethics and code of behaviour – career development – motivation and factors for productivity and quality – role of human resources within ICT projects – social responsibility of profession and professionals
Paper Submission and Formatting Guidelines We invite prospective authors to submit contributions, not yet published, reporting on either work under development or concluded projects about theoretical aspects or practical applications of the workshop topics. Paper must follow the formatting guidelines of the conference (DOT, PDF), and should be written either in English or Spanish. English language is preferred although contributions in Spanish are welcome. Contributions should be submitted, in PDF format. Maximum length is 6 pages. Publication Papers may be accepted as full workshop papers (6 pages). Papers selected for presentation during the workshop sessions will be included in the Conference Proceedings, subject to the condition that at least one co-author will register for the conference and ensure the oral presentation of the work. Special issue on IT/ICT profession of Upgrade Journal, the official journal of CEPIS (http://www.upgrade-cepis.org), will publish selected papers from the workshop as extended versions. Also Novatica (http://www.ati.es/novatica) will publish a selected paper in Spanish from the workshop as extended version.
