Abstract:
in this paper we present a system that automatically
extracts and georeferentiates geographically related entities from
unstructured, natural language textual documents. This type of
system is particularly useful to automate the georeferentiation of
existing information in e-government applications. Within the
paper we introduce the relevant human language technologies
and we present the system that was developed. We conclude with
a discussion of the preliminary results and future work.
